Australia

16 needles stick out of the Australian continent of the Ghost Gig Globe. Ghost toured Australia to attend some festivals and even made it „over“ to New Zealand. I pinned on a stage for the New Zealand festival. To fill up the islands, I added a fern tree and a road sign warning about rats. Australia has another one of these street signs – in this case, it warns about ghouls. I put it on the Northwest Territory because there is no real venue there that will ever happen. Otherwise, a rat and a few palm trees in the Darwin area make the continent a little more lively.

In southwestern Australia, Ghost toured Perth for the Big Day Out festival. The mini stage resembles the Joondalup Arena. The BDO Festival logo appears as a sign where you would find Adelaide on a map. And further east, the miniature confetti cannon marks Melbourne for another festival appearance by the band.

On their way along the east coast, Ghost spent some time in Sydney. This is where they recorded the video for Ritual , which became a soundbite: Papa Emeritus II in a leisure suit as seen in the video. Of course, when you tap the mini Papa, he sings a sequence from one of my favorite Ghost songs. In addition to a few solo performances, the band was lined up for the Download Festival in Sydney, which is represented on the globe as the main stage. Further north in Brisbane, you can see the Soundwave Festival sign and a camping toilet. I always have to chuckle at that. It’s the other sound button in Australia. And what ghostly sound fits a festival toilet better than the Body and Blood refrain „eat, digest, DEFECATE“?! I love the version from the live album the most. For the other Brisbane date Ghost played, I included a Papa II Ferula because the building didn’t fit so well.
